This Sales Tax Policy explains how JK Shipping LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) applies sales and use tax to orders placed through jkshippingllc.com. By placing an order, you agree to the terms set out below.
Sales Tax Collection
JK Shipping LLC does not currently calculate or add sales tax at checkout. The order total shown at checkout is the amount charged to your payment method, and no tax is billed to you afterwards. If we become required to collect sales or use tax in a state where you take delivery, any tax due will be calculated from the delivery address and shown in your order total before you pay.
How Sales Tax Is Calculated
Where sales tax does apply to an order, it is calculated from the rate in effect for the delivery destination at the time the order is placed, because the destination address is where the container is handed over. Any tax amount is shown in the order total before you confirm payment. Tax is never added after you have paid.
Tax-Exempt and Resale Purchases
Because sales tax is not currently added at checkout, you do not need to send us an exemption certificate to order at the untaxed price. Keep your own resale or exemption records for your state filing. If we begin collecting tax in a state where you take delivery, we will ask for a valid resale or exemption certificate before your order is finalized.
Out-of-State Orders and Use Tax
If sales tax is not collected at the time of purchase, you may be responsible for reporting and paying use tax directly to your state or local tax authority. It is the buyer’s responsibility to comply with the tax laws that apply to their location.
Changes to This Policy
Tax rates and regulations change over time. We may update this Sales Tax Policy to reflect changes in the law or our business practices. The version posted on this page is the version that applies to your order.
