This 40ft used standard shipping container is the largest standard footprint we stock, built to put the most cubic footage into a single deployable unit — 2,387 cu ft against the 20ft model’s 1,172 cu ft, more than double the storage volume in one delivery. Sold in Wind and Watertight (WWT) condition, it is structurally sound and weatherproof, giving reliable dry storage from the moment it’s set down, though it has not been formally re-certified for international shipping and does not carry a valid CSC plate.
Getting the most storage volume for the space usually means accepting a longer, heavier delivery. A 40ft unit needs genuine truck access — a clear run in, enough turning room to back a flatbed trailer, and a long, level stretch of hardstanding to set it down on. If your site can offer that access, the 40ft is the most volume-efficient standard container we sell; if access is tight, our 20ft standard unit is the easier fit.
The container is built from COR-TEN weathering steel throughout — frame, cladding, and corner castings — developing a stable oxide layer that resists corrosion outdoors without ongoing maintenance. The floor is 28mm marine-grade plywood on steel cross-members, suited to palletized goods, equipment, and heavy materials. Access is via exterior hinged double cargo doors with dual locking bars, and four vents provide passive airflow to limit condensation during storage. Forklift pockets and ISO corner castings allow repositioning by forklift or crane without extra equipment.
