The 40ft intermodal container chassis trailer is JK Shipping LLC’s long-haul chassis, built to carry one 40ft ISO container or two 20ft ISO containers over interstate line-haul routes rather than short port shuttling. Fabricated from Q345/T700 high-strength carbon steel, it measures 41ft (12,500mm) overall length and weighs 12,800 lbs (5,800 kg) tare — a longer, heavier build than the 20ft chassis.
Unlike the 20ft chassis, this unit is available in both 2-axle and 3-axle configurations with mechanical, air, or bogie suspension — specify your build at order. The extra axle option is there for heavier loaded weights and route compliance on longer hauls. Eight sets of ISO-standard twist locks are fitted as standard, positioned to accept both 20ft and 40ft container corner castings without adapters — the fixed 8-lock layout is what lets this unit carry two 20ft boxes or one 40ft box on the same frame.
The kingpin is a JOST bolted type in 2″ (50mm) or 3.5″ (90mm); confirm the size you need at order. Braking uses a WABCO valve with 4 or 6 T30/30 chambers depending on axle configuration, a 28L-or-larger air tank, and JOST or YAHUA 28-metric ton landing gear. Tires are 12R22.5, 8 or 12 pieces depending on axle count.
